How Sunshine Day Bakery Began | Julia's Story
🍪 Welcome to Sunshine Day Bakery!
Hi, I’m Julia, the cookie artist, teacher, and sugar enthusiast behind Sunshine Day Bakery in Easton, Massachusetts.
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved creating beautiful things, but it wasn’t until 2017 that I stumbled into what would become my sweetest passion: cookie decorating! One day, I found myself wondering, “What’s that icing that dries hard?” It was a vague childhood memory of shiny, colorful cookies I had made with my mom. A quick Google search later, and I was deep into the world of royal icing!
That Thanksgiving, I decorated a batch of simple autumn cookies for my family, and from that moment on, I was completely hooked. 🍂Check out my very first cookies! Yep, I've come a long way! Check out the hedgehog in the back and the squirrel poking his head out on the bottom right 😂
And here are some more recent fall themed cookies!
I am entirely self-taught (thank you, internet tutorials and YouTube), and every cookie I have made since then has been part of my creative journey. In 2022, I took some time off to earn my MBA, and during that time, I decided to put my new business knowledge to work by starting a small cookie business. At first, I thought I would just take custom cookie orders for birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. Then someone asked if I had ever considered teaching a cookie decorating class, and I said yes. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made 🙌😃
Since then, I started renting out a space at Stonehill College in Easton, MA and I've taught over 1,500 people how to decorate cookies, from kids to grandparents, from beginners to seasoned bakers. Everyone leaves with something beautiful and delicious. Whether it is a girls’ night out, a family activity, or a team-building event, my cookie decorating workshops bring people together for laughter, creativity, and a little bit of sugar-coated joy.
The name Sunshine Day Bakery comes from a special piece of my childhood. When I was little, my dad used to leave for work each morning by saying, “Have a sunny day!” It was such a simple phrase, but it always made me feel loved and encouraged to find the good in every day. When it came time to name my bakery, I wanted to honor that memory. “Sunny Day Bakery” was already taken by a few other cookie businesses, so I added my own unique twist. Sunshine Day Bakery is a nod to that lovely memory and to the warmth I hope people feel when they see or taste my cookies. ☀️
At Sunshine Day Bakery, I believe in celebrating life’s moments, big and small, with cookies that taste as good as they look. Whether you are looking for custom sugar cookies in Massachusetts, hoping to join one of my cookie decorating classes near Boston, or simply following along for inspiration, I am so happy you are here.
Welcome to the bakery family. Let’s make something beautiful together.
