☀️ Sunshine, Sugar Cookies & Summer Adventures ⛱️
A Sweet Summer at Sunshine Day Bakery: Cookies, Classes & What's Next
Summer has looked a little different this year at Sunshine Day Bakery.
Normally, my summers are packed with public cookie decorating classes nearly every weekend, alongside custom decorated sugar cookie orders for birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, graduations, corporate events, and all of life's celebrations. This year, though, I've intentionally slowed things down—and honestly, it's been a welcome change.
Don't worry...I'm still creating plenty of custom cookie orders! But after four summers of running from class to class every weekend, I'm enjoying taking a little extra time to soak up the sunshine, spend time with family and friends, and simply recharge my creative batteries.
Sometimes slowing down is exactly what you need before the next exciting chapter begins.

Help Me Find a New Home for Cookie Classes

One thing that hasn't changed is how much I miss teaching.
If you've taken one of my cookie decorating classes over the last few years, you know how much I love introducing people to royal icing and showing complete beginners that they really can create beautiful decorated sugar cookies.
Right now I'm actively searching for a new permanent home for my public cookie classes.
I'm looking for a space on the South Shore of Massachusetts that comfortably seats 15–20 people with tables and chairs arranged so everyone can easily see demonstrations and decorate together. While I've been incredibly grateful for restaurants and breweries that have hosted classes in the past, I'd really love to find a quieter space where students can easily hear instruction without competing with dinner service or live music.
If you know of a community room, event space, church hall, library meeting room, makerspace, classroom, or other venue that might be a good fit, I'd absolutely love to hear from you.
And here's my dream scenario...
If anyone knows of a space that also has access to—or even better, is available to lease with—a commercial kitchen, I'd love to connect. It's something I've been hoping to find as Sunshine Day Bakery continues to grow.
You never know where the perfect opportunity might come from, so please send any suggestions my way!
Meanwhile, I'm designing new cookie decorating classes, sketching holiday cookie collections, creating new cookie cutter designs, and brainstorming fresh ideas for both in-person and online learning opportunities.
If you've been hoping for online cookie decorating classes, don't give up on that idea just yet. It's something I'm seriously exploring while I search for the right permanent classroom space.
Learning Never Stops
Just because I'm teaching a little less this summer doesn't mean I'm done learning.
For my birthday in August, I'm treating myself to something I've wanted to do for years: a trip to King Arthur Baking Company in Vermont to take several hands-on baking classes.
As someone who teaches others, I think it's incredibly important to keep learning myself. Every class I take gives me new techniques, fresh inspiration, and ideas that eventually find their way back into my own bakery.
I can't wait to see what I learn—and even more excited to bring those new skills back to Sunshine Day Bakery.

Planning Ahead for Custom Cookie Orders

One thing I wish more people knew is just how far in advance custom cookies are booked.
If you're planning a birthday party, baby shower, bridal shower, graduation, corporate event, wedding, retirement party, or any other special celebration, I highly recommend reaching out at least six weeks in advance—and even earlier during the busy fall and holiday seasons.
Nothing makes me sadder than having to tell someone I can't create cookies for an important event because my calendar is already full. Every custom order takes planning, design time, baking, decorating, packaging, and scheduling, so I have to carefully manage my calendar to make sure every customer receives the quality and attention to detail they expect from Sunshine Day Bakery.
The more notice you can give me, the better your chances of reserving your date. Even if you don't have every little detail figured out yet, we can always hold your event date and finalize the theme later.
If you know you'll need custom decorated sugar cookies in Massachusetts or on Boston's South Shore, don't wait until the last minute—I'd love to celebrate with you!
Something Spooky Is Brewing... 🎃👻

I know...it's only summer.
But if you know me, you know that behind the scenes I'm already dreaming about Halloween!
While everyone else is enjoying beach days and backyard barbecues, I'm busy sketching new cookie designs, testing decorating techniques, and planning this year's Halloween collection. It's hands-down my favorite season to decorate, and I already have some ideas that I'm ridiculously excited about.
Whether you're looking for Halloween decorated sugar cookies, Halloween cookie gifts, Halloween DIY cookie decorating kits, or (fingers crossed!) Halloween cookie decorating classes, I've got lots of fun things in the works.
So enjoy the sunshine...but don't blink. Before we know it, it'll be time for pumpkins, ghosts, witches, black cats, and all things spooky.
Be sure to follow Sunshine Day Bakery on social media and keep an eye on the website because I'll be sharing sneak peeks of this year's Halloween collection very soon. I have a feeling it's going to be my best one yet. 🎃🍪
